Pre-Surgical Rehabilitation (“Prehab”)

Prehab is therapy done before surgery to prepare a pet’s body for the best possible outcome.

• Goals: Build strength, maintain flexibility, reduce pain, and improve cardiovascular fitness before surgery.
• Benefits:
  • Stronger muscles and joints going into surgery
  • Reduced inflammation and stiffness
  • Shorter recovery times and improved comfort afterward

Examples of therapies: Gentle strengthening exercises, stretching, laser therapy, and pain management techniques.

Post-Surgical Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation after surgery helps pets recover faster and more safely while preventing complications.

• Goals: Control pain, restore mobility, protect surgical repairs, and rebuild strength.
• Benefits:
  • Faster return to normal activity
  • Reduced risk of re-injury or compensatory strain
  • Better long-term joint health and mobility
• Examples of therapies: Controlled exercise, hydrotherapy (underwater treadmill), laser therapy, PEMF, shockwave, manual therapy, and individualized home exercise programs.
